ANGOLA AND JAPAN ADDRESS DEEPENING BILATERAL COOPERATION

January 19, 2023

On the 19th of January , in Luanda, the governments of Angola and Japan addressed the deepening of bilateral and multilateral relations.

During the audience that His Excellency Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes , Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, granted to Mr Saida Shinichi , Director General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the two individuals reviewed issues of common interest within the framework of strengthening cooperation between Angola and Japan.

In the multilateral field , the parties discussed the peace and security situation in the Great Lakes region , and the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine .

The meeting also served for the two entities to talk about exchanges of visits at the highest level , whether from Luanda to Tokyo and vice versa.

Bilateral cooperation between Angola and Japan began in 1988 with emergency aid through the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
