Press Release The Angolan Embassy in Japan hosted recently a SADC´s seminar about tourism promotion in the countries members of the regional organization.

In the course of the event, which relied on the participation of personalities linked to the Japanese public and private sectors, the diplomatic service of the States Members of the SADC accredited in the “Land of the Rising Sun”, did show the touristic potential of the Africa Austral region.

They highlighted that the football world cup to be held in the middle of this year, in South Africa, will be a great opportunity for the tourists of several nationalities, in particular the Japanese, to be able to visit and enjoy the countless attractions that the SADC´s countries offer.

They informed that the SADC have undertaken continuous and very significant efforts in order to create the conditions for the politic and economic stability in the region and, they also consider the tourism as one of the main vectors of its development.

The heads of the SADS´s diplomatic services in Japan, stressed that tourism is an important tool for the consolidation of the peace and for the decrease of poverty in the austral region of the African Continent.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Mr. Fernando M’bachi, highlighted that in the country, the tourism sector registers a significant grow since the conquest of peace, which happened 8 years ago, having reveled the existence of construction projects for touristic and hotel infrastructures in the entire national territory.

In turn, the Japanese tourism operators recognized, in general, the great potentialities of the SADC´s member countries and promised to study systems that make viable the creation of partnerships with the Japanese Agency for the Tourism (JATA).

They suggested the opening in Tokyo of a RETOSA´s Office (Regional Tourism Organization of Southern Africa), the SADC´s body that takes care of tourism issues, in order to provide the latest information and to work on workshops for specialists in the region, together with agencies and other touristic operators in the “Land of the Rising Sun”.
