AMBASSADOR OF ANGOLA IS RECEIVED BY THE VICE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF JAPAN

July 06, 2023

On July 6th of the current year, Her Excellency Ambassador of Angola to Japan, Teodolinda Rosa Rodrigues Coelho, was received by Mr. Takehiro Shimida, Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and minutes later held a meeting with His Excellency Takeo Mori, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, where she presented the certified copies of her credentials accrediting her as the designated Ambassador.

In turn, His Excellency Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Ambassador of Angola and emphasized the willingness to continue the existing cooperation projects between the two countries and the identification of new areas of business.

The diplomat also took the opportunity to reaffirm the Angolan government’s willingness to cooperate with Japan in the political-diplomatic, socio-economic, and technical-scientific areas, with the aim of attracting Japanese private investment to assist in the diversification of the Angolan economy.

The two diplomats took the opportunity to discuss aspects of cooperation between Angola and Japan, which received a new impetus after the visit of His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço in the past month of March, where he held meetings at the highest level, including with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and His Imperial Majesty Naruhito.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed interest in seeing Japan invest in the entrepreneurship sector, specifically in the field of technology for small and medium-sized enterprises. This sector is experiencing significant growth, and Japan is globally recognized as a leader in this field.

In addition to bilateral matters, multilateral issues were also discussed, with particular emphasis on the war in Ukraine.
