ANGOLA PARTICIPATES IN HIGH-LEVEL SEMINAR IN ALGIERS

December 1, 2025

Foreign Minister Téte António participated in the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa in Algiers on Monday morning.

This is an event aimed at improving cooperation between the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) and the African countries that represent the continent on the United Nations Security Council as Non-Permanent Members (A3).

The seminar, which began in 2013 and is called the “ORAN Process,” also serves as a platform to help newly elected African members of the A3 prepare for their responsibilities, review advances, challenges, lessons learned, and best practices related to peace and security on the continent, and strengthen Africa’s voice on the global stage, particularly in the UN Security Council, by promoting common positions on behalf of the continent.

The event featured, among others, speeches by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and Coordinator of the African Members of the UN Security Council (A3), Ahmed Attaf, as well as the President of the Executive Council of the African Union, Téte António, and the President of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.

Taking the floor, Téte António said it was an honor to participate in this interactive debate on current trends in the global situation of peace and security in Africa, a space that has established itself as an essential tool for harmonizing African positions in the United Nations Security Council through this valuable mechanism.

For the minister, the ORAN Process has been instrumental in strengthening Africa’s ability to influence decisions in the UN Security Council.
