Manila, June 10, 2026 – Angola’s Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Consuls General accredited to Asia and Oceania have been meeting since Wednesday morning, June 10, in Manila, the capital of the Republic of the Philippines, to outline strategies aimed at revitalizing Angolan diplomacy in their countries of accreditation and producing tangible results beneficial to Angola.
The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Manuel Domingos Augusto, who passed away last Friday in Luanda due to illness.
Titled the First Meeting of Angola’s Diplomatic and Consular Missions accredited in Asia and Oceania, the distinguished representatives of Angolan diplomacy also analyzed the pressing issues that each Diplomatic Mission faces in the practical execution of its role in representing the Angolan State.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Miguel Dialamícua, Director of the Asia and Oceania Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representing His Excellency Minister Téte António.
In opening the meeting, the Director of the DAO emphasized that the purpose of this meeting is to promote dialogue and the exchange of experiences on issues related to the external activities of Diplomatic and Consular Missions in order to strengthen institutional cooperation ties.
The Director advised the Heads of Mission to pay attention to geopolitical developments in the countries under their jurisdiction, without, however, interfering in internal or regional affairs.
The Director of the Asia and Oceania Directorate stated that it is important to improve the terms for establishing bilateral partnerships to create synergies that contribute to achieving the objective and goals of economic diversification.
The Director of the Asia and Oceania Directorate at MIREX is being assisted by the Director of International Cooperation at MIREX, José Paulino da Silva, and by the Director General of the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services ( ), Maria Filomena do Rosário Neto António.
Participating in the event are the Ambassadors or representatives of Angola accredited to the Republic of the Philippines, Australia, South Korea, India, Japan, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, and China, the Consulates General in Guangzhou and Macau, as well as Angola’s Delegate to Forum Macau.
Also participating are the heads of the Consular Sections of these Diplomatic Missions and other diplomats.
The First Meeting of Diplomatic and Consular Missions is an initiative aimed at bringing together the leading minds of the distinguished representatives of the Angolan State in Asia and Oceania, gathering ideas, and identifying paths leading to better outcomes for the country and its people in all spheres of life.
