A delegation from the Setagaya Ward Board of Education Secretariat, comprising students from various educational levels, visited the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan on July 21, 2026.
The delegation was led by Koichi Yamamura, head of the Setagaya Board of Education’s Projects Department, and was received by Cabral Laureano, counselor at the Angolan Embassy.
A total of 23 students selected through the “Hello Career Work” program participated in the visit. This initiative aims to encourage young people to reflect on their future career options by providing them with direct exposure to various fields of work, including diplomacy.
As a token of appreciation, the Japanese children crafted buttons using Angolan fabrics, which the Embassy will use in future cultural promotion events.
As part of the cooperation between Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Setagaya Ward, and the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Tokyo, the initiative allowed visitors to learn about various aspects of Angolan life, with a focus on the political, economic, tourism, and sociocultural spheres.
During the event, the students also had the opportunity to learn about the role and functions of a diplomatic mission, as well as to deepen their knowledge of Angola, its culture, history, and development potential, thereby strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
