JAPAN GOVERNMENT DONATES HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT TO JOSINA MACHEL HOSPITAL

On the 12th of August 2022, a ceremony was held to hand over hospital equipment, donated by the Government of Japan to Josina Machel Hospital, as part of the Economic and Social Development Programme in the country in the area of Health.

Besides Mr. MARUHASHI Jiro, Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Angola, also were present from the Angolan Dr. Leonardo Europeu Inocêncio, the State Secretary for Health in the Hospital Area, and Dr. Carlos Zeca, the Director General of Josina Machel Hospital.

The hospital equipment donated by the Government of Japan has already been installed in the department of otolaryngology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology and  Imaging and Emergency rooms of the Josina Machel Hospital.

During the visit, Ambassador MARUHASHI observed the equipment of Japanese origin installed, with the perspective that, with this act of cooperation between Japan and Angola in the sector, the equipment will be used for the improvement of the health services in the country.

Since 1996, the Government of Japan has supported Josina Machel Hospital with around 40 million American dollars so far, including the donation of equipment as well as training provided to the Hospital’s human resources.
