March 14, 2023

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, witnessed this afternoon in the city of Nagoya the signing of three memorandums of understanding between Angolan institutions and the Toyota Tsusho Corporation, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of this Japanese multinational.

The Ministry of Energy and Water signed a memorandum that provides for the construction of groundwater collection systems (holes), powered by solar energy. They will serve to alleviate the problems of drought in southern Angola.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Health and the Toyota Tsusho Corporation, establishing the donation of a vehicle for the refrigerated transport of vaccines and the third linking the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Barra do Dande to Toyota for the creation of facilities to supply renewable energy and water supply systems in the Zona Franca da Barra do Dande.

It should be recalled that yesterday, in Tokyo, Angola and Japan signed a letter of intent establishing cooperation in the space field. The Angolan entity linked to the legal instrument is the Space Program Management Office.
