ANGOLA PARTICIPATES IN AFRICA DAY CELEBRATIONS IN JAPAN

May 24, 2024

The Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan participated in an event organized by the African Group as part of “Africa Day,” which took place at the facilities of Sophia University in Tokyo.

The commemorative event held on May 24 was preceded by a lecture attended by over 200 participants, including students, faculty members, and members of the African Diplomatic Corps accredited in Japan. They discussed, among other topics, the issue of African integration, the continent’s economic development process, and the relationship between Japan and African countries with the framework of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). The aim of TICAD is to create mechanisms and initiatives conducive to financing projects that support the development of the cradle continent.

The Africa Day celebrations reached their peak with a political event that included the presence of the Minister of Education, Mr. Masahito MORIYAMA, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Masahiro KOMURA, who was the guest of honor.

The same event culminated in a tasting fair featuring food from various African countries, where Angola showcased its cuisine with typical local dishes. On this occasion, the Minister of Education visited the Angola stand, where H.E. Ms. Teodolinda Coelho, the Ambassador of Angola to Japan, presented the various traditional dishes of our country to the Minister.
