The Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil expressed, this Wednesday, its solidarity and deep dismay for the victims of the heavy rains that hit several regions of Angola, with particular impact on Benguela, Cuanza-Sul, Malanje, Icolo e Bengo, and Luanda.
“In the face of the devastating effects caused by these natural phenomena, Brazil expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, also manifesting its solidarity with the Government and the Angolan people, especially the directly affected communities,” the press release reads.
In the note, Brazilian authorities stated that they have been closely monitoring the evolution of the situation and highlighted the importance of international cooperation and solidarity in times of adversity, reiterating institutional support to Angola in this context. “To date, there have been no reports of Brazilian citizens among the victims.”
According to the statement, this expression of solidarity reinforces the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Brazil, highlighting the spirit of proximity that characterizes the relations between the two countries.
