After a working visit of approximately seven hours to the province of Benguela—marked by an on-site assessment of the damage caused by the flooding of the Cavaco River—the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, is returning to Luanda.
Upon arrival in Benguela province, the Head of State was received by local authorities and officials, immediately beginning the work program.
During the visit, João Lourenço flew over the most affected areas by helicopter and toured several neighborhoods, where he saw firsthand the extent of the damage caused by the floods.
The President of the Republic interacted with the victims, many of whom were transported to temporary shelters.
Additionally, he chaired a meeting of the National Civil Protection Commission, during which he assessed the consequences of the calamity and defined new strategies to mitigate the impact of the flooding of the Cavaco River, which has affected the lives of more than a thousand people.
At the end of the journey, João Lourenço returned to Luanda from the Paulo Teixeira Jorge International Airport in Catumbela.
