MEETING WITH AFRICAN AMBASSADORS

A meeting between the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of Africa, accredited in Japan, and the Executive Director of NEPAD, Ms. Nardos Bekele- Thomas was hold at the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan.

His Excellency Ambassador of Angola, Mr. Rui Orlando Xavier, as host of the meeting, welcomed and thanked everyone for their presence, especially Ms. Nardos Bekele-Thomas, Director of NEPAD.

The meeting served primarily to discuss the implementation of NEPAD programs on the African continent. This task fell to the Executive Director of NEPAD, in a dissertation where she addressed topics of great strategic relevance, stating that for the first time, a single vision is being shared among the 54 countries of the African continent, in order to leverage Africa in a strong continent, where the spirit of Pan-Africanism must continue to reign within each of the African States, and in their communities.

She also appealed to the need for Africa to have good certified leaderships, with the need to integrate development programs and action plans for all, with the construction of strong infrastructures and with good partnerships, stating that only in this way will a good legacy for future generations.

At the end of her dissertation, there was a period of questions and answers in a cordial and relaxed atmosphere.

Note that the meeting was attended by 35 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors from Africa, accredited in Japan.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, received on October 27, Mr. Kenichiro Ono, General Manager from Mitsui Sumitomo Trust Asset Management, to disscuss investiment matters in the country.
Ms. Counsellor Carolina Nunes attended the meeting as well.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan , Rui Orlando Xavier , received Mr. Yoshitaka Sakurada, Member of the House of Representatives of Japan and Vice-Chairperson of Japan-African Union (AU) Parliamentary Friendship League, as well as Chairperson of Japan-Angola Parliamentary Friendship Association, at his office today. They discussed the current state of relations between the two countries in the parliamentary ambit and perspectives for strengthening with the exchange of delegations from both Parliaments.

Deputy Yoshitaka Sakurada, was the special envoy of the Government of Japan to Luanda to attend the investiture of President João Lourenço on September 15, 2022.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, received today a courtesy visit from the new Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Octávio Cortes.
During the visit, cooperation between the two countries, the work developed by the CPLP group in Japan and other matters of international scope were discussed.

On the 6th of October, another monthly meeting of the Ambassadors of the SADC Group accredited in Japan took place.
The meeting took place at the Angolan Embassy in an atmosphere of cordiality and understanding on the various issues discussed.

Under the motto “Connecting the World, Creating the Future,” the event “Global Festa Japan 2022” took place on October 1st and 2nd, 2022, in Tokyo. It is one of the largest events held in Japan, co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC). The objective of the event is to raise awareness among the public about the current situation and the need for international cooperation, providing each exhibitor with the opportunity to promote their respective country.

Several exhibitors participate, with a particular emphasis on African countries, which were in the majority compared to other continents. In total, there were 14 countries, regional organizations, and international organizations represented.

Angola was represented by Counsellor Mrs. Carolina Martinho Nunes da Piedade, First Secretary Mrs. Manuela Afonso da Costa, and Administrative Assistant Mrs. Izumi Tamaki Sonoda. They showcased a promotional video highlighting Angola’s tourism, displayed sculptures created by Angolan artists, presented Angolan cuisine, and provided information about our country in various areas, particularly tourism, culture, geography, history, and more.

The Angolan exhibition was very well received by the visitors, and many of them expressed a desire to visit the Embassy to obtain further information about the country and engage in discussions with Angolan representatives.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, was received on September 22nd, 2022, by Mr. Tanaka Akihiko, President of JICA, with whom he talked about the involvement of JICA in various sectors of activity in Angola, particularly in the energy and water, health, agriculture, staff training and its increase. The possibility of holding seminars in Angola for various sectors with Japanese speakers was also discussed.
