H.E. Mr. Rui Xavier, Angolan Ambassador to Japan, was received on 1 February at MOFA, by the new Director of the Department of African Affairs, Ambassador Yonetani Koji.
The meeting requested by the Ambassador of Angola, focused on official visits and bilateral relations.
The Ambassador of Angola was the first African Ambassador to be received by the new Director.

H.E. Mr. Rui Xavier, Angolan Ambassador to Japan, received on February 1 in his office, Mr. Miyamoto, Head of the JICA Representation in Angola. During the meeting, projects underway in Angola with support from JICA were reviewed and others were analyzed, taking into account the excellent relations existing between the two countries. It was ensured by its interlocutor a greater engagement on the part of MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan) and JICA for the realization of this aim.

First ceramic art class at the Embassy of Angola by professor Hatakeyama, who teaches actresses and actors at NHK. The class was organized by the Ambassadress of Angola, Ms. Fátima Xavier and Ms. Junko Katano. In this dramatic period with all the restrictions and problems related to COVID-19, these classes, in addition to being instructive, also help to relax and distract. Attended by some ambassadresses and members of the diplomatic corp of the Embassy of Angola.

Angola and Japan signed today, 14 of January, in the MIREX, in Luanda, the Agreement for Exchange of Notes for Implementation of the Program of Economic and Social Development in the Field of Demining.

Signatures of the said exchange of notes were, His Excellency Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities and His Excellency Maruhashi Jiro, Ambassador of Japan to Angola.
The Economic and Social Development Program, valued at ¥ 210,000,000, consists of donating accessories for demining machines, a mobile workshop, spare parts and training for technicians to the National Demining Institute (INAD) of the Demining Executive Committee (CED) ).
The donation is part of the existing cooperation, in the demining sector, between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the Government of Japan, which consists of allowing long-term and dangerous labor-intensive operations to be drastically improved with the use of modernized machines.
