Tokyo, as part of the celebration of February 4th (the day of the start of the National Liberation Struggle), the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan participated this Sunday, February 9th, 2025, in the cultural Pre-Event to celebrate the holding of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9), a cultural and educational event organized by the Yokohama City (Kanagawa), aimed at informing and raising awareness among Japanese citizens about the importance of cooperation and cultural interaction with African peoples.
The TICAD cultural event featured the participation of various African and Japanese exhibitors who brought to the city of Yokohama the culture, dance, music (with a musical performance with traditional African instruments), a fashion show of traditional Japanese costumes tailored with African fabrics, as well as the exhibition and sale of traditional African utensils, thus highlighting the existing interaction and rapprochement between Japanese and African artists.
Angola, as guest of honor at the same event, took the opportunity to promote a tasting event of Coffee and some spirits manufactured in our country, as well as to publicize its culture, habits, customs and traditions of its people, through the distribution of advertising material (small booklet) that portrays the history, tourism with its vast fauna/flora and economic potential for the Japanese people and other foreign entities present.
Those present were delighted with the rich and intense flavor of Angolan Coffee, with the refreshing taste of the drinks displayed in cocktail format, as well as being happy to learn about the long and attractive recent history of our country, with emphasis on the process of liberation, peace and development, aligned with the current policies of the executive in its vision of economic diversification.
The TICAD pre-event comes at a time when Angola is preparing for its participation in a dual capacity, national and as President of the African Union, in an event scheduled for August 20-22, 2025, in the city of Yokohama.
