The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, Mr. Rui Orlando Xavier, was received today, April 06th of 2023, at the Heardquarter of the International Tropical Timber Organization by the Executive Director, Ms. Sheam Satkuru.

Angola became the 61th member of the organization at the final of the last year.

The ITTO  is an intergovernmental organization promoting the sustainable management and conservation of tropical forests and the expansion and diversification of international trade in tropical timber from sustainably managed and legally harvested forests.

AMBASSADORS IN THE USA, ZAMBIA, NORWAY, SERBIA, SOUTH AFRICA AND JAPAN FORMALLY BEGIN THEIR DUTIES

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, today swore the six Heads of Diplomatic Missions appointed this week, in a ceremony that took place in the Main Hall of the Presidential Palace, in Luanda.

The Ambassadors sworn in are, namely:

  • Agostinho de Carvalho dos Santos Van Dúnem, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the United States of America;
  • Albino Malungo, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Zambia;
  • Alcino dos Prazeres Izata Francisco da Conceição, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Kingdom of Norway;
  • Emílio Miguel de Carvalho Sobrinho, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Serbia;
  • Rui Orlando Ferreira de Ceita da Silva Xavier, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of South Africa

and Teodolinda Rosa Rodrigues Coelho, for the post of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan.

Addressing the new Heads of Diplomatic Missions, the President of the Republic exhorted them to work hard in defending and projecting the good name of Angola and, also, in attracting foreign investment and promoting tourism.

João Lourenço wished the diplomats success in their mission on behalf of the Angola.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, received Mr. Kazumasa Kimura, Executive Officer of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, in his office on March 17, 2023, who delivered two letters from the President of the TTC and Honorary Consul of Angola in Nagoya, addressed to H.E. President of the Republic and Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, in which he thanks for the results obtained during the official visit of the Head of State of Angola to Japan.

PRESIDENT JOÃO LOURENÇO VISITED THE IMPERIAL PALACE, EXPERIENCED THE TEA CEREMONY, HAD LUNCH IN KYOTO FASHION AND VISITED TWO TEMPLES.

The official visit of the President of the Republic to Japan has come to an end, with today entirely dedicated to contact with the culture of Kyoto, a city considered the center of Japanese tradition.

The journey began with the presidential couple visiting the Sento Imperial Palace and its wide gardens and extensive lakes, marking the passage through the place the moment in which João Lourenço and Ana Dias Lourenço sat on the balcony of one of the secular houses of the property to contemplate the effect of the reflection of the gardens in the waters of the lake.

The traditional tea ceremony followed in the protocol residence where the President was accommodated, guided by masters of this centuries-old ritual of Japanese society and continuous act, a lunch with the most representative samples of local gastronomy.

President João Lourenço arrived at the dining room barefoot, as tradition has followed for generations and generations of diners.

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, witnessed this afternoon in the city of Nagoya the signing of three memorandums of understanding between Angolan institutions and the Toyota Tsusho Corporation, in a ceremony held at the headquarters of this Japanese multinational.

The Ministry of Energy and Water signed a memorandum that provides for the construction of groundwater collection systems (holes), powered by solar energy. They will serve to alleviate the problems of drought in southern Angola.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Health and the Toyota Tsusho Corporation, establishing the donation of a vehicle for the refrigerated transport of vaccines and the third linking the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Barra do Dande to Toyota for the creation of facilities to supply renewable energy and water supply systems in the Zona Franca da Barra do Dande.

It should be recalled that yesterday, in Tokyo, Angola and Japan signed a letter of intent establishing cooperation in the space field. The Angolan entity linked to the legal instrument is the Space Program Management Office.

Tokyo – A memorandum for training Angolan staff in the field of space was signed this Monday by the governments of Angola and Japan.

The “letter of intent”, for the establishment of cooperation in the spacial area, was initiated in the Japanese city of Tokyo, within the framework of the four-day state visit that the Angolan President, João Lourenço, is having to Japan.

 The document was signed by the director of the Angolan Space Program Management Office, Tudolana João, and Japan’s deputy director general for International Economic Cooperation, Soichiro Sakagachi.

Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira.

Speaking to the press, the Angolan minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, referred that the agreement aims, above all, at training Angolan staff.

 “We are to work with Japan on the perspective of training staff and gathering their experience in the space industry”, explained the official, reiterating that Angola intends to be well framed in the space industry sector.

 Bilateral cooperation with Japan began in 1988.

At the end of this Monday afternoon, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, as part of the official visit that began today to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Bilateral relations, initiated with the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976, were the center of conversation between President João Lourenço and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Speaking to the press, in the interval between the meeting of the two delegations and the dinner offered by the Japanese Prime Minister to the illustrious visitor, João Lourenço and Fumio Kishida reaffirmed the willingness to cooperate that animates the two countries in a wide range of areas.
