The Angolan Ambassador to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied by Mrs. Ambassador Maria de Fátima Xavier, were honored on May 16, 2023 with a lunch offered by the Chief of Protocol of MOFA Ambassador Shimada Takehiro and Ms Kaji Sonoe, Director of the Personnel Division of MOFA, due to the end of their duties as Ambassador in Japan.
A charity lunch organized by the Association of African Women Ambassadors’ Spouses in Japan (AWAAJ) in collaboration with the NCAF (Association of Japanese Ambassadors’ Spouses for Africa and the Middle East) was held at the Embassy of Angola on May 12th, 2023.
The event was attended by Mrs. Akie Abe, the wife of the former Prime Minister of Japan, as well as various Ambassadors, Ambassadors’ Spouses, and members of the Japanese civil society.
In addition to the lunch, there was a fashion show showcasing African designs and a performance of African music.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied by his wife Maria de Fátima Xavier, attended the Imperial Garden Party on May 11, 2023. They were joined by other members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Japan, as well as Minister Fumio Kishida and other government officials. The event, held at the Garden Park, was hosted by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and the Imperial Family.
On May 10, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, visited the Ambassador of the Republic of San Marino and Dean of Ambassadors in Japan, Manlio Cadelo, to bid farewell at the end of his four-and-a-half-year mission.
During the meeting, the relations between the two countries, the international situation, and the time spent on the mission in Japan were reviewed.
Ambassador Rui Xavier expressed gratitude to Ambassador Dean for all the support and cooperation provided during his mission.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, met with Mr. Yoneshita Sakurada, Deputy and President of the Japan-Africa Friendship League, on May 9, 2023.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola expressed his farewell at the end of his mission to his interlocutor and thanked Mr. Sakurada for all the support provided in strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, particularly highlighting the recent visit of the President of the Republic of Angola to Japan.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Sakurada, as the Deputy, represented Japan at the inauguration of His Excellency the President of the Republic at the beginning of his second term leading the country.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied by other African Ambassadors, visited today, April 28, 2023, the Bridgestone factory in Yokohama. In addition to tire manufacturing, this factory specializes in producing rubber bearings for seismic isolation, especially used in the construction of building foundations to withstand the various levels of earthquakes that regularly affect Japan.
This visit is part of the activities developed by TRINVEC, the economic branch of the African Diplomatic Corps (ADC) based in Japan.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, with others African Ambassadors credited to Japan, participated to an official meeting for the occasion of the visit to Japan of the President of the African Development Bank, Mr. Akinwumi Adesina.

The Angolan Ambassador to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, received in his office today, February 19, 2023, the Deputy and member of the Liberal Democratic Party, Yoshitaka Sakurada, with whom he exchanged opinions on the reassessment of the role of Ticad, 30 years after its initiation in the partnership between Japan and Africa, as well as its evaluation and comparison with other initiatives from other countries.
The Ambassador of Angola to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, received today, February 18, 2023, in his office, Mr. Tetsuro Yano, former Senator and President of the Association for African Economic Development of Japan (AFRECO), with whom he held a long talk about the state of relations between Angola and Japan and ways to improve them.
On the occasion, the Former Senator, took the opportunity to say goodbye to Ambassador, who as we know will perform identical functions very soon in South Africa.
