On the 19th of January , in Luanda, the governments of Angola and Japan addressed the deepening of bilateral and multilateral relations.
During the audience that His Excellency Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes , Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, granted to Mr Saida Shinichi , Director General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the two individuals reviewed issues of common interest within the framework of strengthening cooperation between Angola and Japan.
In the multilateral field , the parties discussed the peace and security situation in the Great Lakes region , and the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine .
The meeting also served for the two entities to talk about exchanges of visits at the highest level , whether from Luanda to Tokyo and vice versa.
Bilateral cooperation between Angola and Japan began in 1988 with emergency aid through the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The President of Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Honorary Consul of Angola in Nagoya, Mr. Ichiro Kashitani, visited Angola on January 10 to 13 of 2023.
He visited the constructions of the Namibe Ore Carrier Port, constructions in charge of Toyota Tsusho and TOA. He also visited the trading port and had a working meeting with the Governos Archer Mangueira, during which a set of information was passed that could be the object of study by the japanese company. The visit was accompanied by the Secretary of State for Transport, Emílio Lomba.
The President of Toyota Tsusho also visited the province of Benguela, where he met with the Governor of the Province and visited the future facilities where the Lobito refinery will be built. He later visited two fish treatment complexes in Baía Farta.
In Luanda, he received the PCA of the Dande Free Zone, having received a detailed explanation of the complex to be built in Bengo Province.
He was also received by the Ministers of Economy and Planning and Transport, respectively Mário Caetano João and Ricardo Viegas de Abreu, with whom he addressed the possibility of investment in very specific areas to be indicated by the Angolan side.
The highest point of the visit took place when the delegation of the President of Toyota Tsusho and Honorary Consul of Angola in Nagoya was received in audience by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.
The Angolan Ambassador to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied the delegation’s visit.

As part of the fulfillment of his diplomatic agenda, His Excellency Ambassador Téte Antônio, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today, Friday, December 23, in Luanda, the new appointed Head of the Diplomatic Mission of Japan.
His Excellency Toru Suzuki, who at the end of the afternoon went to the headquarters of the Angolan diplomacy, to present the Figured Letters to His Excellency Ambassador Téte Antônio, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola.
His Excellency Toru Suzuki, graduated in Law from Keio University, Tokyo, former Consul General of Japan in Perth, Australia and First Secretary of Japan in Norway, will replace his compatriot His Excellency Ambassador Jiro Maruhashi.
The bilateral cooperation between Angola and Japan began in 1988 with assistance through the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
Japan, located in the Far East, is known as the Land of the Rising Sun, is made up of a relief archipelago, formed by the islands: Kyushu, Honshu, Shikoku and Hokkaido.
An island country in the Pacific Ocean, it has dense cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples.
Tokyo, the capital, is known for its skyscrapers, shops and pop culture.

H.E. Rui Orlando Xavier, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, received on December 19, 2022, the Ambassador Jiro Maruhashi, who until the 7th of this month held the position of Ambassador of Japan in Angola.
During the meeting, matters not implemented this year were analysed, largely because of the COVID 19 pandemic, which greatly limited the exchange of delegations from the two countries and the consequent signing of agreements in the most varied areas of national life.
The two ambassadors think that with the measures taken to contain the pandemic, the conditions will be created for 2023 to be better in this field.
Ambassador Jiro Maruhashi served as Ambassador of Japan to Angola for a period of 2 years.

On the 12th of December, the great International Ikebana Fair 2022 was held at the Royal Park Hotel, as always with great participation from various Embassies.
We had the opportunity to appreciate Ikebana art with beautiful floral arrangements and, as always, there was also a large bazaar, where our Embassy of Angola participated, among other Embassies.
The Imperial Princess Takamado who is the patron of this Ikebana Foundation and also Mrs. Yuriko Koike Governor of Tokyo Metropolitan and Mrs. Yuko Hayashi, wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
This year the Chairperson of this fair was Mrs. Houda Elloumi, wife of the Ambassador of Tunisia.

S.E. Rui Orlando Xavier, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to Japan, received on December 12, 2022, the President of the Japan Institute for Overseas Investment (JOI), Mr. Toshiyuki Kosugi with whom he discussed aspects related to the growth of Japanese companies in the Angolan market within the scope of economic diversification.

On December 10, 2022, the traditional end-of-year lunch was held, which was attended by HE Rui Orlando Xavier, Ambassador of Angola, Ambassadress Fatima Xavier, diplomats and local staff.
On the occasion, the Ambassador wished those present a Merry Christmas and a very prosperous New Year, as well as appealed for greater dedication and participation of each one in the tasks undertaken.
December 8th, 2022
On the 8th of December, a Christmas Concert was held at the official residence of the Ambassador of Angola, by the choral group of Ambassadors and Ambassadresses.
It was a wonderful and unforgettable night with this very united and fun group.
Participated Mrs. Hayashi, wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Parliamentarian Sakurada and wife, Mrs. Kashitani wife of Toyota Tsusho CEO and some Ambassadors and wives.
