The state of bilateral cooperation, in the most varied fields of politic, diplomatic, economic and commercial area between Angola and Japan, was once again analyzed in Luanda between the authorities of the two countries.

To this effect, His Excellency Jiro Maruhashi, Japanese Ambassador accredited in Angola, went to the MIREX headquarters to discuss with His Excellency Domingos Custodio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Communities Abroad, issues related to the deepening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The occasion served for the Japanese Ambassador in Angola to inform the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Overseas Communities about preparations for the TICAD Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held on August 27 and 28 in Tunis, Tunisia.

The meeting also served to review the status of the exchange of notes on the payment of Angola’s debt to Japan, as well as bilateral cooperation, including the Investment Protection Agreement and the Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomatic and Official Passports.

AWAAJ, Association of African Ambassadresses in Japan, together with Ladies‘ Friendship Association for Africa and the Middle East and Youth Welfare Center organized on April 20, 2022 at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola, a charity bazaar in order to raise funds, which will revert to the benefit of people in need in this country and the African countries participating in the bazaar.

Angola participated in the bazaar with a variety of items, which were available for sale, from handcrafted products, as well as traditional dresses.

In addition to Angola, Algeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Rwanda and Zimbabwe also participated, a total of eleven countries, and handicraft products and other items were available for sale.

The introduction video of participating countries was screened at the venue, also. The local Angolan community was present, helping and buying some products in solidarity with the noble cause.

Today at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan, AWAAJ, Association of African Ambassadresses in Japan, together with Ladies‘ Friendship Association for Africa and the Middle East and Youth Welfare Center, organized a charity bazaar.  The introduction video of participating countries was screened at the venue. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy African handicrafts, traditional dress, and cuisine.

H.E. Mr. Rui Orlando Xavier, Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan received on April 13, 2022, Mr. Espe-Martin Kapongo Kapongo, the new Chargé d’Affaires of the Democratic Republic of Congo in Japan.

H.E. Mr. Rui Orlando Xavier, Ambassador of Angola in Japan, was received on April 11, 2022 in audience by H.E. Mr. Hiroyuki Hosoda, the Member of Parliament and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan.

During the audience, the state of political, economic, cultural and sports relations between the two countries was reviewed, with both interlocutors considering them excellent and that they may see a substantial increase with the next visit of the President of the Republic of Angola to Japan.

The Ambassador of Angola thanked all the support given by the government of Japan, under the TICAD framework to the African continent in general and to Angola in particular and in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic with the delivery of vaccines and other medical means.

The Ambassador of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier , was received on April 8, 2022 in audience by the Ambassador and Director General of the Department for African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan , Koji Yonetani.

During the meeting, they discussed about the results of the TICAD 8 ministerial meeting held on March 26th and 27th, the meeting held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António, and the next TICAD 8 Summit, scheduled to take place in Tunis on August 27th and 28th of this year.

2nd April 2022
Mr. MARUHASHI Jiro, the Ambassador of Japan in Angola, accepted TPA’s invitation and was received on the program “Matabicho (Breakfast)” aired on April 2, 2022.

The Ambassador presented Washoku (Japanese cuisine), especially the traditional Japanese breakfast, as well as the culture of preparing the “lunch box” in Japan, among others, enjoying the Japanese and Angolan “Matabicho”, together with the presenter, Mrs. Yeda Morgado.

The Embassy of Japan in Angola continues to make more efforts for the dissemination of Japanese cuisine in Angola.

H.E. Ambassador Rui Xavier received on March 31, 2022, H.E. Ambassador Mr. Ibrahim Uvais of the Republic of Maldives in Japan.

The Ambassador of Maldives delivered a request for supporting of his country to be a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the mandate 2023-2025 and exchanged information on the respective countries and ways of strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

H.E. Ambassador Rui Xavier received the new Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic in Japan, H.E. Mr. Vítor Sereno. During the visit, the situation in the two countries and perspectives for strengthening their relations were discussed.
