His Excellency Ambassador Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received in audience this Thursday morning, June 8th, in Luanda, the Ambassador of Japan to Angola, Suzuki Toru.

The meeting served for the Japanese Ambassador to inform the Minister of Foreign Affairs about the visit to Angola by His Excellency Nishimuna Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan, scheduled for the first week of August of the current year.

Ambassador Suzuki Toru also spoke about the need for the implementation of the Agreement on Liberalization, Protection, and Promotion of Investment (ALPPRI).

Bilateral cooperation between Angola and Japan began in 1988 as Emergency Aid through UNICEF.

Japan has been providing bilateral assistance to Angola through international organizations in efforts for national reconciliation, food aid, assistance to farmers and poverty alleviation, as well as support for refugee repatriation, demining, water supply facilities, construction of primary schools, communication networks, ports, among others, with a focus on basic infrastructure.

A farewell lunch was offered to Ambassador Rui Orlando Xavier of the Republic of Angola by the SADC Ambassadors in Japan on June 5, 2023.

Reception hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, for SADC Ambassadors, as well as Ambassadors from Europe, Asia, and Latin America, along with the Japanese civil society, in commemoration of the conclusion of his 4 and a half-year work mission, on June 2nd, 2023.

The Ambassador of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, was received in an audience on May 18, 2023, by the Dean of African Ambassadors accredited in Japan and Ambassador of the State of Eritrea, Estifanos Afeworki Haile, to present farewell greetings after his mission of approximately 4 and a half years.

During the meeting, issues related to the African group and its activities aimed at better understanding the African reality in Japan were discussed. The relations between the two countries, Angola and Eritrea, were also reviewed, along with the current internal situation in each of our countries.

The Ambassador of Angola expressed gratitude to the Dean of African Ambassadors for all the assistance and facilities provided for the successful outcome of his mission.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, was received in an audience on May 17, 2023, by the Director of Africa at MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Ambassador Saida Shinichi.

During the meeting, Ambassador Rui Xavier bid farewell to Ambassador Saida Shinichi, marking the end of his 4 and a half year mission in Japan.

During the meeting, the main activities carried out by Ambassador Rui Xavier were reviewed, which have contributed to the positive state of relations between the two countries.

The Angolan Ambassador to Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied by Mrs. Ambassador Maria de Fátima Xavier, were honored on May 16, 2023 with a lunch offered by the Chief of Protocol of MOFA Ambassador Shimada Takehiro and Ms Kaji Sonoe, Director of the Personnel Division of MOFA, due to the end of their duties as Ambassador in Japan.

A charity lunch organized by the Association of African Women Ambassadors’ Spouses in Japan (AWAAJ) in collaboration with the NCAF (Association of Japanese Ambassadors’ Spouses for Africa and the Middle East) was held at the Embassy of Angola on May 12th, 2023.

The event was attended by Mrs. Akie Abe, the wife of the former Prime Minister of Japan, as well as various Ambassadors, Ambassadors’ Spouses, and members of the Japanese civil society.

In addition to the lunch, there was a fashion show showcasing African designs and a performance of African music.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Japan, Rui Orlando Xavier, accompanied by his wife Maria de Fátima Xavier, attended the Imperial Garden Party on May 11, 2023. They were joined by other members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Japan, as well as Minister Fumio Kishida and other government officials. The event, held at the Garden Park, was hosted by His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, and the Imperial Family.
