Ambassador Rui Xavier held a meeting with Mr. Koji Yonetani, Director General of African Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and during the meeting he reviewed the current status of cooperation between the two countries, the current situation in African countries, the upcoming TICAD Ministerial Preparatory Meeting and other issues of importance to both countries.

Ambassador Rui Xavier held a meeting with Mr. Nakamura Toshiyuki, Vice President of JICA, and during the meeting he reviewed the status of cooperation and collaboration of this Japanese international cooperation agency in Angola and shared other important actions in near future.

Today, the spouse of the Ambassador of Angola in Japan, Fátima Lima Xavier, as Chairperson of the Ikebana International 2021 Fair, which took place last December 14th, organized a lunch to thank all the wives of ambassadors, Companies and members of Ikebana International, who contributed to the success of the referred fair. H.I.H Princess Takamado, patroness of this Foundation and Mrs. Yuko Hayashi, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, were present at the Fair. Mrs. Yuk Hayashi was also present at today’s luncheon and gave a speech praising the success of the Fair. Mrs. Junko Katano, President of Ikebana International, also spoke, thanking the spouse of the Ambassador of Angola for the effort and support she gave for the realization and success of the Fair. The Ambassador of Angola, Rui Orlando Xavier, in his speech, thanked Ikebana International for having invited his spouse as Chairperson and making his country Angola came into prominence during the Fair on December 14.

After the lunch today, there was a music class at the official residence of the Ambassador of Angola with some of the Ambassadresses present and with Mrs. Yuko Hayashi, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On December 14th, the great International Ikebana Fair for the year 2021 took place at the Royal Park Hotel in Tokyo. It should be noted that the art of Ikebana is considered in Japan as one of the most important arts in Japanese culture. H.I.H Princess Takamado, honorary president of Ikebana International, the Honorable Mrs. Hayashi, wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Members of Ikebana International, the Diplomatic Corps and other distinguished guests were attended the Fair.

The Ambassadress of Angola Fátima Lima Xavier, as the Chairperson of this fair, welcomed and accompanied the visitors. Angola was in the spotlight, with the main flower arrangement made in the colors of the national flag, also the tickets and brochures were elaborated with the picture of Porcelain Rose, flower from Angola and a message from the Ambassadress of Angola. 

The Ambassadress of Angola as Chairperson of the fair participated the ribbon cutting and made an opening speech together with H.I.H. Princess Takamado and Ms. Junko Takano, the President of Ikebana International Japan. In her speech, Ambassadress Fátima Lima Xavier thanked, on behalf of the Ambassador of Angola, who for professional reasons was absent from the fair and was in Angola, and on herself, for the fact that she had been invited to be the Fair Chairperson of Ikebana International for the year 2021. She also thanked for the fact that with her modest contribution she can give back the affection that the Japanese people have shown for her country. Finally, she thanked, on behalf of all the Ambassadresses present, the collaboration for the fair and the opportunity that was given to share a little of the culture of their respective countries.

Despite the difficult situation we all face, those involved in the Fair did not spare any effort to make this event successful, especially with the support granted by the Japanese government. The event was attended by about 1,500 guests and is a charity event that had the purpose of helping the people in need, victims of natural disasters from the revenue received.

The event was covered by several local television channels, as well as several magazines in the country.

December 11, 2021
On December 11, in the Event Hall of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola in Japan, was held the Christmas lunch, organized by the Ambassadress, Ms. Fátima de Lima Xavier, with the diplomatic corps, officials and staff of the Embassy.
Ambassadress Fátima de Lima Xavier highlighted the importance of the Christmas spirit, as an element that brings together joy, love, peace and hope.

So that the family celebration may be reborn in the hearts of all, that the values of this time are extended throughout the year, that the efforts for harmony between peoples may be permanent, that solidarity and sharing may be stronger at this time of year, but that they remain active over time, always thinking about the most fragile and vulnerable. May peace, harmony and the spirit of harmony always reign.

Within the Christmas season, there was an event held by Ikebana International in the city of Kamakura, at the Embassy of Angola in Japan. This event was organized by the Spouse of the Ambassador of Angola, Maria de Fátima Xavier. During the event, the ambassadresses of Croatia, Greece and Angola presented videos and images on how Christmas is celebrated in their respective countries. There was also an Ikebana art demonstration performed by the Ambassadress of Angola.

Mr. Rui Xavier, Ambassador of Angola to Japan, received, in an audience in his office, Mr. Tokukazu Kiyama, Member of the Council of the City of Hiroshima.
During the meeting, issues of common interest were discussed, with emphasis on the strengthening of relations between the city of Hiroshima and Angolan cities, in the context of the “Cities for Peace” movement.

H.E. Ambassador of Angola, Mr. Rui Xavier, in his office, meet Ms. Fukuyo Nakamori, ex-member of the House of Representatives of the National Diet of Japan. During the meeting, the preparation of the Asia-Pacific and African Women’s meeting, scheduled for March 2022, was reviewed.

November 19, 2021
H.E. Ambassador Rui Xavier received in audience the new Ambassador of Botswana in Japan, Mr. Gotsileene Mokare. It was a courtesy visit, where various topics were addressed, especially the bonds of friendship and fraternity between the two countries and the strengthening of cooperation within the SADC group in Tokyo.
