Ambassador Rui Xavier, met Mr. Koji Yonetani, Director-General Africa Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting various issues were discussed, including the strengthening of relations between the two countries, in particular with regard to cooperation and investment by Japanese companies in the Angolan market.

Ikebana International organized a demonstration of Ikebana art at the Embassy of Russia. The demonstrations were made by teachers from Ikebana and some Ambassadressess. The Angolan Ambassadress, as the current Fair Chairperson, made her demonstration using flowers and leaves in the colors of Angolan flag. It was a great moment of conviviality and opportunity to observe the arrangement of the autumn flowers, in their appropriate places, highlighting the beauty, essence, and harmony, stimulating sensitivity and an aesthetic sense.

The achievements of National Independence and peace are indelible marks of “our history, which is why the challenges to maintain their achievements, build national unity and build a reconciled Nation must be permanent and part of our daily lives”, defended the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

The Head of State made this appeal this Wednesday (10) during his message to the Nation on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of National Independence, in this Thursday (11).

According to João Lourenço, November 11th should be a day of celebration, victory, hope, glory and reflection on “our glorious journey” and on the much that lies ahead to overcome the challenges of our time.

The President of the Republic also considers it to be a time to believe, fight and work “hard” to win the battle for development.

“This is, therefore, a moment of recognition and gratitude to all those who, from the remotest times of the beginning of colonization, fought, sweated, shed their blood and gave their lives so that, from the darkness of night, born in the light of freedom,” he highlighted.

The President highlighted that the colonial occupation was the first great test of our resilience, our fearless capacity to fight for our rights and objectives, our unbreakable union in the face of great challenges and our firm will to win.

The Head of State also defended that the achievements of independence and peace should fill every Angolan with pride and encourage him to face the “long road” that lies ahead, to overcome the challenges of our time.

“We have a past that makes us proud and that drives us to build a better future”, highlighted João Lourenço.

The Angola pavilion at the International Exhibition in the United Arab Emirates (Expo Dubai 2020), which takes place from Friday to March 31, 2022, received 2,660 visitors in the first two days of the event.

According to Kayaya Júnior, one of those responsible for the pavilion, the Angolan space at Expo Dubai received 1,800 people on the first day, including a visit by a Botswana delegation led by the Minister of Trade and Investment, MmusiKgafela, while on Saturday 860 people passed by by the national stand.

Among the first people to visit the Angolan pavilion at Expo Dubai, there is an Angolan couple who are in the United Arab Emirates on vacation. It’s about Gabriel and Jurelma.

Designed by architect Paula do Nascimento, the Angola pavilion occupies an area of 2,300m² and has a Sona shape (area drawings), typical of the Lunda Chokwe people. The space seeks to highlight a contemporary Angolan, exhibiting works by various Angolan artists, especially Paulo Kussy, Daniela Ribeiro, Finesa Teta, Cristiano Mangovo and Guizef Zeferino.

A message from the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to Angola’s contemporary dance and projections of the country’s future, on a 3D panel, as well as to Education, training and evolution, sustainable development and technology, are also highlighted in the pavilion.

The Ambassadress of Angola in Japan, Mrs. Maria de Fátima Xavier, was designated as the Fair Chairperson of the Ikebana International, before of Ikebana International and several Ambassadresses.

Ikebana International is a non-profit cultural organization whose aim is to encourage and perpetuate the study of ikebana and related arts around the world. Its headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan, with 260 delegations around the world, with a common bond of love for flowers and a passion for ikebana art and with the motto “Friendship through flowers”. The Organization’s patron is Princess Takamado.

It should be noted that in recent years the position of « Fair Chairperson » has been performed by one of the Ambassadressess in Japan chosen by the management of Ikebana International.

Reception at Haneda airport of the Angolan delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, on 22 August, composed of two athletics athletes, a guide, a coach and a physiotherapist.

The delegation was received at the airport by Mr. Ambassador of Angola to Japan, Rui Xavier and Mrs. Ambassadress Fátima Xavier.

In the previous day, the General Secretary of the Angolan Paralympic Committee, the President of the Angolan Paralympic Committee and also member of the African Paralympic Committee and the Executive Committee of the International Paralympic Committee had already arrived.

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will be held from August 24th to September 5th, 2021.
